The Sakaguchi Laboratory was established at the Keio University School of Medicine to promote cutting-edge research and education which able to quickly respond to the needs and demands of society and the constantly evolving conditions in the fields of medicine and the life sciences.ProfessorToshiro Sato■e Department of Organoid Medicine was launched as a new department of the Sakaguchi Laboratory in November 2018 with the support of the Keio University Medical Science Fund. Organoid technology enabled us to propagate and di■erentiate various tissue stem cells into 3D structures resembling original tissues. Organoids derived from human heathy and diseased tissues retain near-native tissue structures and functions, providing a promising direction in the investigation of disease pathogenesis and applications to the regenerative medicine.
